What's in a name?

Yup... that's Barrett up there!

We often get asked about the meaning behind our name. Why not just go with Dunigan? It would have been easy to throw my name in the spotlight — but that was the exact problem with it. Our work isn’t about me. It’s not even about our team truthfully (despite how incredible they are). Let me explain.

Picture a sailboat. You probably conjure the image of a long, narrow vessel and a tall sail. But as someone who has spent a lot of time at sea, I know there’s much more to a sailboat than most people realize. Behind the mainsail is a strong rope used to hoist it; this rope works in unity with a sailing block — something the sail can’t operate without — and it’s called a halyard.

Halyard as a company isn’t confined to just one person or name. We’re a team of individuals working in synchrony to carry the weight of a project’s many moving parts — keeping the whole ship moving forward. We take on our client’s pain points and successes as our own, but just like a halyard on a sailboat, we're not the players you typically see — or even recognize. And that’s ok. Because the most rewarding praise we receive comes not only from a job well done, but also from putting our clients first every time.

Our work isn’t always a smooth ride, but the outcome is always worth it. We thoughtfully came up with the meaning of our name and our sailing block logo as a constant reminder of this approach and commitment. Because as long as we work cohesively to support our clients every step of the way, there’s no telling how far we’ll go together.
